Thank you for your interest in the ImmuneRACE Study

Due to the unforeseen closure of our mobile phlebotomy services provider, we have placed a temporary hold on study recruitment and enrollment while we seek alternative options. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Please enter your email below if you would like to receive updates.

If you have any further questions, please email the study staff.

Help us understand how different people respond to the COVID-19 virus

Be part of the ImmuneRACE. If you’ve been impacted by COVID-19, your immune system may hold key information that can help contain and manage the virus.

Find out if you are eligible:
Do you live in one of the metro areas listed here, and belong in one of the below categories?

Ongoing prolonged exposure within the past 2 weeks e.g. healthcare workers or living with someone with confirmed diagnosis

Currently have COVID-19

Currently symptomatic with a confirmed COVID-19 diagnosis based either on a positive test result or diagnosis received from a healthcare provider

Recovered from your confirmed COVID-19 diagnosis within the past two weeks. This means you are no longer symptomatic within the past two weeks or you were cleared by a healthcare provider within the past two weeks.

This study is enrolling people with a confirmed diagnosis or significant exposure to someone with a confirmed diagnosis in order to learn about their immune response. We are not able to return individual test results.

About this study

The ImmuneRACE study is designed to help researchers understand the immune response to COVID-19. This is critically important because the immune system may be able to tell us important information about how our own bodies detect and respond to the virus that could inform better diagnostics, treatments and vaccines.

How It Works

Fill out an electronic questionnaire, then donate a blood sample and nasal or throat swab with a mobile phlebotomist who will travel to you.

We read the genetic code of the immune cell receptors in the samples.

We apply data algorithms to find the immune cell receptors that recognize the disease.

These insights may help create better diagnostic tests and improve our knowledge of COVID-19.

Your safety and wellbeing are our primary concerns, and the mobile phlebotomist will follow all safety guidelines to protect you from any risk of additional exposure to the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19.

Why Study Immune Response?

Your immune system is made up of specialized cells that can identify very small amounts of a virus as soon as it enters your body. By developing a test that recognizes these cells, we may enable earlier and more accurate detection of COVID-19 than current diagnostic tests, a critical step forward in the fight to contain COVID-19 in the future.

Additionally, the same diagnostic test to identify these cells to detect the virus earlier may also be able to help solve the current crisis we are facing to prioritize medical resources to help those with the most severe cases of COVID-19.

Importantly, all of this information about these key immune cells will be made freely available by Adaptive and Microsoft to any researcher around the world who is working to improve the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of this virus.

About the Sponsor

The study is sponsored by Adaptive Biotechnologies, an immune-driven medicine company, in partnership with Microsoft, who are working together to decode the immune response to COVID-19 and will provide these data freely to researchers around the world. Additional study partners include LabCorp/Covance and Illumina.
